I guess I'm still not sure what the issue is from DC. Is the new Hydroformed frame not up to the task? Why would DC concede this business segment to (heaven forbid) FORD and GM???

Are we talking about taking the bed off a 3500 or are we talking about true 4-door crew cabs?

I'm not sure what you mean either, but if you're talking about the no bed delete option for the 3500 DRW, keep in mind that they do authorize bed delete for the 3500 SRW. Same frame. No reason for there to be a problem. My advice to anyone wanting a DRW flatdeck truck is to buy a Dodge and put the deck on.

Yep - I seperated the thread by mistake.....

A person can do this themselves but with the way tort claims are these days why would a manufacture want to take on this liability - I mean the mfg of the equipment NOT DC! Be honest - do you think you would want to acept this liability? I would think that if one has even put an aftermarket bed on themselves and has an accident - this would be an "in" for somebody to sue you - FORGET the circumstances for the accident. If their attorney knew about this - I think they would try anything!

It will definitely dampen the enthusiasm of the aftermarket bed manufacturers as far as putting them on a 3rd gen DRW, but I wouldn't have a problem doing it myself. I would imagine that someone would have to prove that the aftermarket bed caused the accident and as long as you're not over GVWR or rear GAWR, I just can't see it happening. A very small risk as far as I'm concerned, of course the laws are different up here, eh?

Maybe owning a construction company and living with all the associated risks has clouded my judgement, but trust me, I have alot bigger risks to worry about!
