Thinking about wiring up the low speed on the heater fan to circulate the nice warm coolant that the block heater produces to keep the cab warm when plugged in. Would the temp at the heater core be warm enough to bother doing this?I noticed the lines going in and out of the cab were warm to the touch today and I started thinking about putting a weather proof under hood automatic batt charger mabey 2. 5 anps to wire up wire up to the block heater plug so they both come on as soon as its plugged in and a relay to kick on also when plugged in that will send 12v to the low speed fan lead. That way its idiot proof and there will be no way to come out to a dead batt even if power goes out. Any one else try anything like this yet??

Without the engine running to circulate coolant, the heat will not travel to the heater core. Heat only rises, and if I`m not mistaken, the whole heater core run travels downwards a bit. Now, if you parked your truck downhill all the time, it -might- work, but I`d doubt it without any circulation. Lines arent big enough for a gravity feed. Best way out would be to get a AC/DC heater for the cab and time that on a relay mebe...

good luck

Just an observation, but when I plug the block heater in, I leave the heater vent setting to "Defrost". I always have a thawed spot on the windshield, so some heat IS getting through the heater core and rising. No, the cab ain't warm, but at least I hardly ever have to scrape!
