I took my truck to a dealer in Houston for a oil change, told the service writer to make sure the front drive shaft was greased. I was told the u-joint was sealed and there was nothing to grease. After I cooled down I showed him the decal under the hood that states it must be serviced at each oil change he and the oil change guy found the grease fitting. They have changed my oil before and he told me they didn't have a grease adapter to service the u-joint. I went into orbit and said what was I to do if it fails due to their not knowing their own product. They ordered the grease adapter and said to bring it back for service. I called the service Manager and got the run around as I expected. Stay away from Allen Samuels Dodge in Houston!!

Wait what? There are greeaseables on the 6. 7's?

Ohhh My God! Did Chrysler figure out that "life time" doesn't really mean "life time"?

:)

I find this amusing since I just greased the 14 points on my truck. Only had 2 when I bought the truck. :) Interesting to note that the only 2 factory grease points still are in perfect conditions. The 12 new ones I added are because of all the original "life time" joints failed at about 70,000 miles.

Jason,

Can you tell me where you added them?

Well, I replaced all the parts and got ones that were service able.

all 4 ball joints

every u-joint (8 if a long box)

and the 2 on the track bar

that's 14! :)

I put in about 6oz (2 mini tubes) worth of grease every time (5000 miles) somehow to.

Grease Joints

While I only have a 2 x 4 I would appreciate more detail on what and how you changed out the fittings.

I grew up with grease fittings and while in some cases the sealed units work quite well I like you think a regular application of grease is superior to inaction and risk dry joints.

ok, so wait until you go back for three or four more oil changes and have to show each different tech where the fitting is.....

I finally have the service manager trained as to where it is and where they keep the grease gun fitting , so I don't have to crawl under the rack with them anymore. .

I wonder how many are not getting greased...

Add into it that you have to grease it at half the normal oil change interval, so every other greasing I get to crawl under and do it myself...

Not to jack the thread but can someone take a pic of the fitting as I didn't see it on my truck and would like to grease it thanks

This same issue was around a couple months ago. Many post and pictures were made. Do a search. I had to educate my Dodge Dealer that my truck has the special fittings and they did greased them.
