When I drive my truck enough to get it warm, and then shut it down it make a loud popping noise for about 15 to 20 mins. All is intermittent and it varies in loudness. It will even do it at idle sometimes. It is coming from the down pipe section. The other day I was changing oil and it did it. Scared the living crap out of me, beings the pipe is about 3 inches from my face. Almost wander if the turbo, or the pipe is changing sizes when it cools. But, on idle it will do it too. I have looked it over and to my eyes can't find a thing. Happenned, to anyone else?

Exhaust Pipe Popping

You guessed it already - The pipe is cooling off and makes a popping/pinging noise. My 99 did it at an idle or at shutdown.

It just started doing this about a month or two ago. Guess it won't hurt anything... .

I would of loved to found a truck exactly like mine with the 12 valve in it. But I couldn't come across one with all the options mine had with the 12 valve, so I had to settle. :(

We pays our 35 bucks so we can post anywhere Steve will put up with. :D:D:D My old fashioned 12 valve has never popped or crackled. That must be another handy feature of the over valved set. Kind of like LP failures per mile.
