Unless you have a specific reason for a 1000W generator, I would go with a 2000W. I have a 1000W Honda and when I went to use a small air compressor the 1000W would not run it. I got a 2000W from Costco, does a good job and is not much bigger or heavier than the 1000W. Honda, Yamaha and Subaru all make great generators. I don't know how long the Costco generator would last as compared to the name brand generators as the price is much lower.

If you take care of them, Honda's seems to be as solid as a rock. I've had three of them in varying sizes. All have done the job they were purchased for.
I've heard the Yamaha's are the same, just no personal experience.

I'm currently using a 2000 Watt Honda which will run most of the things I need.

I have two of the 2000 Honda's with over 400 hours on each (I put hour meters on them when new). Had them since 2002 and I may change the oil in them once a year if I remember. I always run Sta-Bul in the gas and never drain them. They are quiet, not like those cheap construction generators that I am tempted to add sugar to their gas tanks while camping. I just don't carry any sugar.

My 2000w Honda was stolen. I only used it to charge batteries thru the converter. I'm looking into the 1000w because it is ½ the weight, about 30 lbs, vs 50-60 lbs. At my age I don't have the strength to lift the bigger ones.
