I'm planning on porting the head on my 98 12valver. I tow heavy and want the most from the "ole" 12'r. My main problem is exhaust heat. I've been told that porting the head, changing the cam and water/Methenol inject will cure the heat problems no matter what.

I'm thinking of going with Piers stage 3 head, and new cam

Please comment on this theory.

Also, I've been told that water and steel make rust. "Don't use it" This service manager at a local commerial engine service place said that propane is better. It'll cool without the rust problem. Your ideas, experiences here too please.

If water injection will ruin an engine I doubt they would have used it in air planes. I'd go with water over propane. Water will cool and its free.

see if PDR has any pocket ported heads left they are quite a bit cheaper and flow about a 2nd stage intake and almost 3rd stage on the exhaust. if not i got a spare one that is oringed and has 60# springs. it may need a new valve and guide on #6 hole but maybe a we can work a deal and u can get it fixed for cheap. I havent dealt with the water meth myself but hear its a good boost of power and drops the temps but you go drain the bottle quickly. some guys just hook it to the windsheild washer jug and use washer fluid. not sure on what the detremental effects to your engine are.
