I have one of the Posi Loc kits in my chevy, I actually worked at a 4X4 shop in high school when the company was first starting and got one as soon as we heard about them to test it for the shop. Mine has been flawless for 8 years now and it is nice to have the option of 2 Lo when moving a trailer around in a small area. The chevy had an actuator where it electrically heated a gas that pushed the plunger to engage the front end (this was only the early IFS chevys, up to around 92) and it wasn't real reliable especially in snow.

Yeah i've been running a posi-lok for a few months now and i love it! It takes a little while to get used to it but after that it's great!

BTW this is GotSmoke from PS.com

Not to be confused with me! ;) :p :-laf

Oh and I have a friend with a posi-loc on a mid 90's 3/4 Ton Chevy and he really likes it.

I'm going to try to make one first before I go the spendy route. many people make them for their jeeps so I figured why not make your own on the Dodge. I'll let you all know how it went later this spring.

I'll be installing one this weekend. My vacuum actuator died exactly when I really needed it. Not going to risk that again. Got my kit for less than the cost of repairing the stock setup.

Keep us posted on the ARB. Are you going to be running it very hard? I am still contemplating a dual ARB setup, but I'm worried about cause for failure and was wondering if they have improved their system?

Sorry, should have explained my consideration of durability. I know the gears will hold, but i'm worried about loosing an air line. My bad, I'll be more specific next time. Bellyscraper, can your diff area get whacked with sticks / branches or is the air line sticking out the side? Could you post a pic. I haven't found a pic yet that actually shows the location of the air line coming out of the diff.

my pump is in the engine compartment and the air lines follow the vent hose kind of down to the housing. I have never had a problem and will post pics as soon as I learn how to.

you can lose an air line--I did-- the plastic ones can get a hole rubbed thru if you're not careful about routing--ARB does make Stainless Steel lines also--I have one that's going in one day--had the thing for like 2yrs--I got to get things installed when I buy them--dang no wonder my list is long---I've had my front ARB in for 4 years now and I've done a few sled pulls with no probs---chris
