For all of those that are experiencing the problem with the defrost actuator not working, I came upon a possible solution. Credit needs to go to a member of the Diesel Truck Resouce web site. He turned off the fan control, then cycled the actuator control, and it worked! Mine has been inoperable for a couple weeks, and with the current cold snap here, I was having fits in the morning commute. Hopefully this is repeatable, but I'm not going to try it until it warms up a bit.

There seems to two different issues, possibly related. Some guys just cant get defrost (thats me), and some can't get the air to change from the dash vents (there are three different deflectors in the system). Hopefully this works on both scenarios.

mine worked like that sometimes... about 40% of the time with that trick... now works all the time with the blend door and motor changed out... next time it breaks, it probably will not be under warrenty, so it will be fixed in an other way [sad when you actually are planning on how to repair it for when it breaks :(]

Hearing how fragile they might be I always try to remember to switch the fan to low before changing modes. Maybe I'm nuts, but I wonder if moving the diverters with the fan blasting could break them.

As I understand it, they were only broken during assembly. After mine was repaired (TSB), I never had a problem again. Are folks having them fail again after repairs?

I've heard of a few that have had the fix done a couple times. PrarieDog - where did you get yours fixed at? And was it warranted?

It was done at Bellevue Dodge under warrantee. Melanie seems to be the best service writer to work with and they've never sniveled about my add-ons either!
