Well my job search may be over, I am being flown out to Cali monday morning to meet with a company there where a friend of mine already works. I know the skinny of the company, used to be a competitor where I worked several years ago. They are in the north part of silicon valley and would like to know what the area is like from the perspective of a diesel head... . Also would like to know if there are any riding (4 wheelers) area close. I know that housing is way too freaking expensive, but give me the details of the area. I think the name of the town where the company is is Brentwood. My friend lives in Pleasanton.

Thanks for the info in advance.

Brentwood is a nice area sorta semi-urban, compared to Pleasanton or other cities closer in the the central bay area - but as with most real estate in the central Cal area, it's $$$$...

Yuo'll find plenty of 4 wheeling sites and activity out here, and a W-I-D-E assortment of competing recreational activities - within a 75 mile radius of Brentwood, you can choose from Sierras, sea shore, rivers, lakes, and wilderness - within 5 minutes of just about anyplace you will live, you will have IMMEDIATE access to pretty much ANYTHING you have the $$$ to buy - IF you can afford it... ;) :p

AND, once you DO get settled here, and have an equity or paid-for home, it itself will be a "retirement account" that can be sold to buy a cheaper place in some other state of your choice, and the DIFFERENCE in $$$ added to your retirement income... ;)

Bought our place in 1975 for about $50,000 - it's for sale today, appraised and priced just under half a million... ;) :D

Thanks for the info guys, am flying out monday to meet with the owner and the other developers there, also to get a looksie for meself. If I do end up out there, will have to get together sometime.

I work in the Silicon Valley, belong to the San Jose Ramrunner's, and live in Felton. With regards to you thread title, Felton is adjacent to Santa Cruz which was rated as the cleanest air in the entire United States. :D As far as the air quality in the Silicon Valley... . well... . that's another story.
