The inaugural run of the Block Island Express went as planned. The high-speed catamaran is the first to ferry passengers the 32 miles between New London and Block Island in a little more than an hour, about half the time it takes the conventional ferry.
The high-speed service will be able to accommodate about five hundred passengers and folks can bring their bikes on board.
"With this vessel and our new service there will be up to five round trips
daily, so someone can leave in the morning and come back as late as 9:45 at
night," says Stanley Mickus.
The ferry costs a little more. It will run you $25 for a round trip on the same day. If you want to return a different day it costs five dollars more.
