Sat Update

Hammer just called from out on the road with the latest update on Sat events:

1. The gate will open at 0800

2. Events start at 1000

3. Power Systems will have special parking for us

4. Power Systems will work out setting up TDR account

5. Neat parts for sale, such as red valve covers

6. Hammer may be late due to trip on the road.

7. I will bring sign in sheets for existing members and sign-up sheet for new members

8. Hammer checked local eateries to accomodate us. TMACC mentioned some as well.

See y'all there. Looks to be lots of fun!

Who's going to dinner?

I'm going to make some calls to some local restaurants today to check on seating capacity etc.

Might be a good idea to give them a heads up of how many are coming so they can have adequate wait staff on hand.

Choices are: crabs/seafood, italian, american.

If you could post your preference and how many are coming it would help. I post back later tonight w/ the info I gather today.

Tom,

Answer to question 1... ... ..... Crabs/Seafood, Italian, American.

It's All good, and that's my final answer. :D

Answer to question 2... ... ... . I'll be runnin' solo.

dinner

Still in St. Louis until Friday. Will get back late Friday evening, only 805 mile drive. There will be three of us eating (have to celebrate wife's birthday which was the 6th and me on the road) or get "hammered". See everyone at the FSK Mall at 8AM. TMACC, you can lead when we get to exit 82 since you know where we're going.

Dinner sounds good!

Tom, you can count me and Martha in on dinner Sat.

Any restaurant sounds O. K. with us.

Will be good to see you again. Looks like it's going to be a large turnout:cool: . I'd be interested to see what kind of goodies Cummins will have for sale. Getting excited here!

Food

OK,

Made some calls today and the american joint doesn't take groups over 10. 10? 10! Next.

Italian joint. "Maybe you'a call back in abou' twenty minute, Eh?" (No disrespect to our fellow italian-americans intended. ) Got tied up. Couldn't get back this afternoon. Plus is they have a buffet line. I'll try to reach a manager tomorrow.

Gunning's Seafood. They would like to know a day in advance so they can have enough waitestaff on hand. Also have chicken, steak, burgers and beer etc. Thirty folks no problem.

Also, the Golden Coral where we meet earlier this year isn't that far from Cummins either. Just thought I'd throw that in.

jstyer. No Problem on point. (Knew I should have gotten that CB. )

Hey guys:

There's a place called G & M that has the best crabcake I've tasted and real reasonable priced right off 695. They serve other foods as well. I remember they have a party room too.

Thoughts?

Wiredawg

Wiredawg,

Good call. (Washington Post-Best crabcake, July 1998) I just talked to Chris, who is the hostess on Sat. afternoon. We need to give her fairly close numbers to get reservations. A few extras are no problem.

W/ the seminar over at 2pm, by the time we finish BS'n, do you folks think a reservation for about 4:30-5 sounds good? Too late/early?

11 diners so far.

I will not be going out to eat. I have a wedding to go to later that day.

TMACC, I will be armed with a CB. See ya on the exit ramp around 8:20 to 8:30

Ken

Any of the places mentioned will be ok here. I guess the main consideration is their capability for a large group. There will be 2 of us here.

I invited a couple of non TDR members (yet), they will be coming from Thurmont , told them to be at the mall if they want to convoy. I will be coming in from the shore so won't convoy unless I catch up with Tom and Wiredawg and their group on 97.

Larry

Crabcakes sound good to me.

tmacc, I think 5 o'clock should be about right.

Add 2 more to the list.

Thanks,

Wes

Lisa and I are with Wiredog ... G&M is the best ... We cast our vote for those wonderful crabcakes ... . See ya'll on Sat!!

Keith

Reservation Time

tmacc,

You may want to make the reservation closer to the scheduled end of the Open House. I think the Cummins folks are going to want us out of there shortly after the event is over. Their place is gated and locked when they are closed.

Dave

I'm working into Sat. morning and may have to leave right from work to make it to the Cummins store. Would like to have joined the "convoy" down 70 but more than likely will meet you all at Cummins. I think I will pass on dinner but thanks for the offer. Looking forward to a great day! :)

Viv and

Yee haw! :D

We're gonna be some crab cake eating raskels after a full day of bigtime trucks, accessories, displays and just plain chaw'n the fat.

BTW: Thanks TMACC for checking this out. I'm so busy at work that didn't have two minutes all day to even look. You da man!

5:00 PM sounds mighty good.

Wooo hooo!:D

Does it get any better than this?????

OK, Dave has a point, but unless this thing is a real snorer, I doubt it will wrap that fast.

Made reservations for 4PM. My business partner said that there is a line outside this place most evenings. We have 18 folks so far. I made res. for 22. Figured we'd pick up a few and G&M said that if we need to add some to call at noon on Sat. Apparently there are a couple other 20 person groups around that time.

I'll bring some maps w/ me on Sat.

Later

Tom

PS If someone has any suggestions let's hear 'em. Nothing is cast in stone yet. :D
