After finding out today from my dealer what a new TPS was gonna cost me since my warranty is now up b/c of mileage, I was wondering if there is anyway possible to clean the TPS. If not I guess I'm just gonna wait for a while to see if the miss gets worse or eventually quits. Any info would be appreciated guys. Thanks

There is no way of cleaning tps [app sensor]. It is an electrical imput sensor to the ECM. I'm sorry but your going to have to replace it.

TPS sensor

I read in the current TDR magazine about someone that sprayed electrical cleaning spray where the shaft or cable enters the TPS sensor in a 12 V engine. He claimed his first one lasted 20 K and since replacement ans servicing with this method he's gone another 130K with no further TPS problems.

Just FYI, maybe PM works on these.

illflem did something

It was 6 months or so since I saw the thread. Bill had some method of making them last longer (seems like he has the cure for most anything). ;)

Just read a thread a week or so ago about this. Something to the effect of opening up the case with a small dremel tool cutting wheel, cleaning the parts with electrical contact cleaner & then gluing the unit back together. Search a little & I'm sure you can find it.
