I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer, I purchased a rolled 99 24 valve for a conversion so it obviously has a salvage title it is still driveable (removed crushed roof and windshield) if I was to bring it to the stealership for a lift pump would they repair it if I said it was my "off road vehicle" ??? Please say yes I would like to make sure the VP-44 was bad also since I would not like to be footing the bill on that also. BTW the truck has 79,000 miles on it. Thanks

Do you know the lift pump is bad? Go to Cummins and buy one they are $148, If you've got to hire someone to move the truck to the dealer and back you spend somewhat close to that. As for warranty, if Chrysler has found out about the salvage title then the warranty is gone, go to a dealer give them your vin and have them check the warranty status. I'm gonna guess you're SOL.

On edit: Being that the truck is a 99 check the build date, pretty good chance it's really close to the 5 year warranty expiration.

The lift pump at idle is at 4. 3 psi, revved up it is at 1. 8-2. 7 so I am thinking that is not a good thing, the truck is driveable I was more curious if they deny warranty due to salvaged titles. (I was a GM mechanic for 5 years and never ran into a "branded" title so I never had to learn the policy) thanks for the quick response and the input on my situation. I am not worried on the cost of the lift pump I am scared that if it has been bad for a while the VP-44 may be damaged. The truck sat outside at a ranch for 1-1. 5 years before I finally convinced the owner to sell it so I am hoping mabee it went bad (the lift pump) from the sitting. BTW the truck started right up when I got it.

Sect 3. 8 Total Loss, Salvage, Junk or Scrap Trucks not covered ('00 Warranty info booklet)

A truck has no warranty coverage of any kind if:

- the truck is declared to be a total loss by an insurance company,

- the truck is rebuilt after being declared to be a total loss by an insurance company; or

- the truck is issued a certificate of title indicating that it is designated as "salvage," "junk," "rebuilt," "scrap," or similar word.

DCMC will deny warranty coverage w/o notice if it learns that a truck is ineligible for coverage for any of these reasons.

Sorry but you're SOL.

Thanks everyone I figured that much but I guess I was trying to lie to myself. I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed that my injection pump wont be going bad for a long time. My wife will kill me if I tell her this conversions going to cost another 1,000 + after convincing her how great diesels are!!!

When I bought my truck the lift pump was dead, 5 psi at idle and 0 going down the road, no idea how long it had been like that. Replaced it, added an Edge Comp, run it almost like I stole it and the VP is still doing fine with a grand total of 92,200 miles on it, that was almost 70,000 miles ago I fix the lift pump. I wouldn't worry too much if it's running fine right now.
