After 3 years I finally got around to changing my evaporator. Thanks Issue #46! Compressor was in good shape before the leak. I got a new evap. , heater core, receiver, and o-ring kit. I bought a new orifice tube, but the DC repair manual says you have to change the whole tube?? Anyway a couple questions

1. Should I treat the o-rings with oil before installing, and what kind of oil if so?

2. Do I need to add more oil to the system?

3. Beyond that should I just pull a vacuum and fill?

4. How much freon for the system

Thanks for any help.

The 105 Heat index with 80% humidity has really got me wanting my A/C Back!!!

I think I've answered most of the fill questions, but I will accept any reassurance. If I can get my Vac. pump working I'm going to fill it tonight.

Use PAG oil to pre-lube the o-rings. Don't use mineral oil.

Add 2 ounces of PAG oil to the system.

No Freon at all. That's a trade name for R12. A 1995 truck uses 2 pounds
of R134-a refrigerant.
