Guys, I'm having a tough time deciding on some aftermarket mag wheels for my '85 W350 Crew... . not alot of manufacturers seem to make them for our trucks (no big surprise). For those that have purchased some, do you mind posting a pic and what you paid? I got a little spare cash and I really want to spruce up the looks of my Crew (currently running stock '92 16" steel wheels with the chrome trim rings and hubcaps).

Also, I will go with some new tires but want to stick with the stock size tire height... I don't want to lose any gear running a taller tire.

thanks!

John's Truck. He told me they are Eagle Rims. Aluminum I think they be.

I'm also aware that the Ford rims from the 1990's will fit.

I chose the Eagle Alloy 187's. There were under $100 each. They have the larger holes, plus the simulation beadlock look.

I think these are the Mickey Thompson Classic II. 16X10. I like them so far. I also have a set of Eagle Alloy 589's 16. 5x9. 75. I bought the 589's new, and always had troubles keeping the lug nuts tight, from new. The amount the lug nut threaded on the studs was always pretty short for my taste. In the end I did end up loosing one and dropped the truck and trailer on the pavement at 65 mph. :( The Mickey Thompsons I run now have never came loose, the lug nut goes further on the stud, and deeper in the rim. Another guy I know had troubles with a couple sets of E/A's keeping them tight on a 1/2 dodge. Just my $. 02.

There are lots of rim selections for our trucks. Pic up a Peterson's 4 wheel and offroad mag, and there are lots of tire and rim combos for good money. www4wheelparts.com is were I get my rims and tires. With shipping and everything they send a set of tires and rims, mounted and balanced for cheaper then I can buy in any store. Even comes with new lugnuts and centers. Get the stainless centers, but not the stainless lugnuts. Send them an email for the rim you want and the tire you want, if they offer it, they will make a good deal.

I sold the 03 to a friend of Greg Boardman's in 29 Palms. He loves it. I like the 1st gen, it's actually quite fun to drive, once I got ahold of it and did some tweaks. Still looking for a good 98 12V, that will be my next one.

Thanks guys... I ordered one of those free 4-wheel parts catalogs, I have the feeling that will come in handy alot in the future.

So what kind of backspacing do I need? What is stock?

Here's a pic of my wheels

Eagle Alloy 143's 16x8, I've had pretty good luck with these, like them alot.

You guys make me jealous.

Every time I see that white 1st gen on the TDR header I think "Hmmmm, maybe I should start looking".

Do the H2 wheels work on 1st gens?

I have a set machined out.

Mine is a 2WD, but the wheels I'm using work perfectly with the stock 235/85/16 tires - I think that was also the standard size for the 4X4s...

These are MB Motoring 16x7 aluminum wheels that I picked up from Discount/America's Tire. They were around $88 each, and were the best price I could find for anything with a high enough weight rating.
