knowing what I know now, I'd do a shackle flip out back and use the 56" Chevy springs - great improvement over stock springs and better ride - I'm building a truck for a client and did it with factory hardware - check out reply # 59 on this thread on RCC:

RamchargerCentral. Com - 'Paddy's Wagon' - '77 Power Wagon

There are also much better shackles available that I used on our hard-core off-road RC - check out reply # 1813 on this thread:

RamchargerCentral. Com - - 78 'Nacho' - (... 'tis the season... )

Cool!

Thanks for getting back to me on the spring question. My 93' has the front sag & bounce syndrome. I actually hate the way it looks with the low front end. I have researched a local spring company that will re-arch them to level the truck out. They will also add in a support leaf spring. I guess i'm looking for the most hassle-free way to level my pickup without spending tons of $$.

I keep hearing that folks like the Skyjacker 2. 5" leveling kit, but the bolt-up and go concept doesn't seem to be there. I have read articles on how the material quality is less than stock, the eyelets need to be modded to work, and some people have complained of the springs settling back down after a few years. I guess I am faced with some questions: Project time, tools availability, cost $, and durability. I don't have a welder, limited tools, and usually have 1-2 days to get any pickup project accomplished. These limitations really determine which route I go. I'll continue to do more research on this subject.

Bushings

Just got back on to this thread. .

Both my 93 and 92 were super easy to do. no bushing drama at all they came with a urathane bushing kit. . no need for a longer brake line or drag link, everything just slides right in... ... ... .

as far as the ride. . the trucks ride MUCH better with just the front soft rides in place . You do need the 2. 5s though and it has to be designated with a "C" for cummins(they are heavy) i bought a full round(front and back ) for my 93 but i took the backs off and sold them as they didn't make much difference and there was too much shackle travel . . i don't know how much milage my two sets have but it's WAY over 10k each and they are still "perky" Ha!

My Bro-In-Law has the fronts on his 92 W250 as well. .

Hope this helps out...

Have a happy one!

maybe they are 2" ? but i thought they were 2. 5". .

i'll get a look at the part # on the spring...

Thanks for the good info. How much were the front 2. 5" leveling springs and all the associated hardware? I'm just doing some price quote stuff right now.

Well,

I don't know the retail on the Skyjacker set as I got them through my Bro-In-law that is upper managment at a aftermarket auto parts distributor and he got a good deal for me. . I've heard that 4 wheel parts counter guys can cut a deal on stuff if you get the right guy. I've had good luck calling the guys a Summit racing for stuff not on their catalog. . Sorry I don't know the prices.

Knowing what I know now about them. I would buy them right away along with a Borgenson steering shaft as my first two upgrades on a first gen W250...

Here is my 1993 on right, Mike's old 1992 on left, and my '72 crew on the trailer. The crew has since been slapped together and is wreaking havoc on the road!

I just installed the Skyjacker front springs a month ago (have almost 5000 miles now) and can say that they are really nice. If my dad was still around and rode in the truck now he really would be kicking himself for not having installed them the day he bought the truck in 93.

If you read more about them you will find the bushing and bolt issue they have on the 92-93 trucks, I fixed mine by welding the holes in the frame mount up and drilling new 1/2" ones to match the bushings they come with. Others have had spring shops re-roll the spring eye to use the larger bushing on the 92/93 trucks.

If you are thinking of spending $ re-arching your stock springs, don't, just get the Skyjacker ones. :D I can't say how happy I am with them with out feeling like an infomercial guy... ...

Oh yah this is a show your ride thread... .

Here is my 93

This is my second 93. Currently the interior is out. Doing a FatMat Rattle Trap sound barrier, new stereo, new bench seat, new carpet-basically a complete update. Looking good so far. I just need to do something about that paint. Anyone ever do a DIY rattle can camo job?
