New truck or not

I am going to put in a fuel pressure, trans temp, and egt gauge. Do I really need a boost gauge and if so do you guys like the westach boost/egt gauge??? I was thinking maybe I dont need the boost gauge. I dont plan on bombing for a while as I only have 3000 miles on the truck and my main reason for buying the truck is to tow my race car trailer, although I know it's a slippery slope once you get a taste of any more power:D and also I have a 100. 000 mile warranty I plan on using, I allready have one four wheel vice and I really dont want to fix my truck to (although I am scared to death of the incopetant dealers.

John,

You probably don't really need it but...

It is helpful in telling you how hard the engine is working going down the highway - you can tell by the boost gauge when the grade changes or if the wind is a factor. It can also tell you if you have a problem (like an intake hose coming off, etc... ). Also, it looks cool. :D But there are more vital gaiges, so it's not a gotta have, but why not?:D Personally, I don't care for the combo gauge. I like a separate gauge for each function.

I agree. No reason that you must have it but its great for trouble shooting on the road and kinda cool to watch too. Besides its one of the less expensive gauges and easiest to install. DO IT you wont regret it.

Get the boost!

Put the boost, egt, and the trans on the pillar and the fuel pressure in a single pod that mounts on the steering column. Sweet setupOo.

I was thinking about getting a Steering pod. But the pictures of it look like it partially blocks the dash view. Does it?

Fuel pressure is the least watched gauge, put it in the ashtray.

Boost will tell you fuel mileage and egt relationship to head wind and grade factors , similar to a vacuum gauge in a gasser. Some days towing I will maintain 34+# boost into 30-50+ mph head winds and 1200* egt all day to maintain 2100 rpm. In my case 10#= 15mpg, 20#= 11mpg and 30+#=8mpg

Only the wait to start light

It depends on which position you drive with your steering wheel in. I drive with it almost all the way up and it just blocks a couple of idiot lights. Nothing you can't move your head to one side or the other to see them.

I wanted to give a different opinion on the combo gauge... I love my westach gauges... . very easy to read... .

I might like them cause I had a lot of them in my plane, but... I do like them!
