Posting to advertise/classifieds

Just wondering what everyone thinks, but it seems fairly often people start threads to advertise their truck is for sale and post a link to their ad in TDR, Truck Trader or Ebay. I don't much care for this since there's a classifieds section for advertising vehicles or parts. Am I being too particular? I don't have an issue with advertising a vehicle for sale in a signature, but starting a thread or even posting just to advertise it doesn't seem right to me. I've sold a couple vehicles during my time on TDR and made a point to not post in order to advertise it.



Anyway just wanted to throw this out while it was on my mind

That is against the guidelines and we do our best to catch them and remove them. Lately instead of deleting them we've been adding a post to it stating that it's against the guidelines and closing the thread. The hope is that if people see us shutting them down that they'll not post them. If you see one that we miss report it to the moderator so that he can take care of it. With ~1000 posts a day we do miss some.

Well you found it Steve Closing vs. deleting threads is a good idea. My only suggestion is any posted links or ebay numbers be edited out too, the thread is still serving its intent to a degree. That is more likely to discourage further posting too.

Vaughn, I think you are being to particular. Just as any other thread, you have the right and the ability to skip over them, or read them.

However, rules are rules, and we need to respect tthem.

I apologize though, as I was unaware of my ignorance, when I participated in one of these said threads. I do not see the harm in it, but I shall not repeat my mistake(I hope)

i think the thread shld be allowed. they might bring attention to something that i may otherwise miss. also a chance to ask a question which the answer may be publicly posted for all to see



the 'bombers marketplace' forum at nwb works well and would like to see somethin like that here. and if ya dont wanna se it,,,,,,dont open it.

I know you were not picking on anyone in particular. Also, it is not my truck on Ebay for sale. I had just participated in a thread someone else had. No big deal to me

I’m sorry for my past indiscretion Vaughn (it was not a truck, just a part). I have repented and it won’t happen again until the guidelines change. I guess the place would look like a flea market if everyone did it.
