Potential new gooseneck equipment trailer. Help me option it.

Why...because if you have a bad seal you can't see it like disks, disks stop much better, I wash out my drums every time I come back from the salt water and now the adjusters are frozen solid, even in non salt water they need adjustment and the disks don't, the braking even when adjusted is poor compared to disks. I am sure I can come up with a few other reasons.

Torsion axles also don’t work well unless they have about 2/3 of their rated capacity on them.

My boat weighs around 6k+ and the new axles are 3,750# each so it sounds like they should be ok.

I didn’t look at spec’s but if it doesn’t have LED lights they are well worth the option , you can be seen so much better and more side markers if available .. great option when on busy highways so some fool doesn’t plow into your side at night.

Also like receiver mounted on brace bar above the deck by at least 12-15” for winch mounting with battery mounted below deck for winch but a high amp one wired to tow rig for charging/recharging IMHO much better that wiring from tow rig with no battery. Use a winch cradle as mentioned above giving you a movable winch.

Europe runs entirely on torsion Axles, leafs only for Class8 Trailers.

As usual, life gets in the way... LOL I haven't gotten around to getting with the dealer and get some pricing info.

I do think I'm gonna order the electric over hydraulic disc brakes, HDDS suspension, 12k super single axles, oak decking, hydraulic dovetail, hydraulic jacks, spare tire, chain rack, and winch plate. Oh, and some extra lights.

I watch V-belt and Son all the time. Can't hardly stand Tow Piglet. He seems like a booger-eating moron. LOL

Recently re did my Mobile Suites 8k Kodiak disk brakes and bearings and went with Timken bearings and National oil bath seals. I would highly suggest this option with QUALITY parts.

1,300 miles on the new setup with EBC Yellow pads. All I can say is AWESOME!!!

V-belt (video above on the Diamond C) convinced me to give a Diamond C a hard look. As luck would have it, there was one I could look at up here in Alaska. Best part was that it was grey. You'd be amazed at how much easier it is to carefully check out a grey trailer vs. a black one. Build quality was obviously better than the Big Tex trailers I had looked at and better than a bunch of other trailers I looked at. I have a Diamond C coming; electric over hydraulic disks, 10K axles with super single 17.5's and layover mega ramps. They call it a 25K GVWR trailer, but that's only if you can get the pin weight high enough, which I can't with my SRW trucks. We'll treat it as a 20K trailer behind the SRW trucks. I'll report back in June when I go to Montana to grab it.

Custom paint color to match my truck, $0.

To go air ride you have to step up to a 32', $200. Air ride option $3850. Lift axle $500. Nice, but I don't need 32' or air ride. Just throwing that out there.

That's a really good price. I'd pay about $6K more than that up here. Makes the trip south more than worth it. I'm into mine for $16K . Forgot that I also have the chain rack, and winch plate/receiver.



Looks like I should have shopped harder. Could have gotten into a hydraulic tilt from Spencer for barely more than I paid for mine, albeit without EOH brakes.

I’m convinced that EOH brakes are well worth the cost at build time. As a retrofit it’s hard to justify.

It was worth every $$$ to me to change my surge, drum, leaf spring system out for Dexter TorFlex axles, Disk brakes and Hydrastar Hydraulic Actuator on my 23' boat Trailer.
