Anyone using CFM intake manifolds

Updated some pics of my oil guard by pass

Since , it is my understanding, that all these devices make more power by increasing fuel pressure, how is it possible to get BETTER fuel milage and more power as well??? seems like something for nothing???

Well I can only go from personal experience. Over the last 2 and a half years I have tried 6 boxes and 3 downloaders and stacked combos.

Two pressure only boxes. Three timing/duration only boxes. One timing/duration/pressure box. Two downloaders that did a little pressure at some point and one that did no pressure(so it said).

All of them had some setting that would improve mpg with the proper right foot restraint. What does seem a little strange on my truck at least was that the pressure only boxes with mild/moderate settings seemed to provide the best mpg increase.

I look at it like this.

Underpowered more peddle to go. Enought power less peddle and fuel savings.

Anyone remember back in the 70's when BIG3 made engines with no HP to save fuel. Took twice as much peddle to get those big boats going.

We had 140hp LTD's getting 8mpg, now we have 500hp Corvettes getting

20+ mpg on highway.

I think it's basically because these programmers, boxes, downloaders or whatever you want to call them are all designed to optimize performance with little or no regard to emissions. All of the parameters --- timing, pressure, duration and even the shaping of the multiple injection events are set up to give more power from the same fuel which equals efficiency. The oems could do it too if they didn't have to pass the crazy emission regs. But, the flip side of that is that w/o the emissions regs as the driver for the electronics and increased rail pressures and the hardware, the aftermarket stuff wouldn't have the platform to work from that allows the performance of todays stuff either.

Well put, you haven't seen anything for the new motor have you?

If you're talking about the 6. 7 liter, no I haven't. Lots of goodies for the 5. 9 though and getting better too, judging by the early reports of the Smarty 4. 2 beta tests. I imagine it's gonna be more difficult to tweak the new ones but doubt that it will be too long before someone gets it done.
