Power divder/Air bag switch chime question. In this Mack Vision I got year 2003.

When you flip the switch to drop the air bags or whenever you flip the switch for the power divider there is this annoying chime that comes on, and stays on. Is there a way to disconnect the little buzzer or chime and not effect either operation?

Also where in the dash might it be located? From what I can tell it sounds like it is on the left side of the dash over by the tack. Am I even close?

Haven't torn into the dash on a CX, but have several times on our CHs. If they are assembled similarly, the chime is in the dash, between the faceplate and the back half of the assembly. At least on the CHs, there are 2 different sized torx bit screws in the faceplate. IIRC, the smaller ones hold the faceplate. The bigger ones just pass through, but don't help hold the faceplate together.

The chime is a black square shaped piece. Just pulls out (hard), like a ATO fuse or breaker does.

The thing with removing it though, that buzzer serves for low air pressure as well. It is required to be there. Truck will fail a DOT inspection.

I do agree that it can be annoying at times. The KW we have, is the same way.

OK so what your saying is this one chime services the low air, power divider, and the air bag blow off switch?

If so just my luck. This weekend I will be tearing in to it to find out for sure. Man it sure is an annoying chime whenever you have the power divider locked in or the air bags blowed off to dump a load.

Yep. :( I've never seen seperate ones. On the truck, or the schematic.

Just curious, why do you have to dump the bags on the tractor to unload? I can understand dumping the bags on the trailer, but why the truck?

We just dump the bags on the trailers. Truck takes care of itself.

Just another annoying buzzer that drives me nuts. I have driven truck for a while now and have found ways around the more annoying devices. In short, I have taken a relay and wired it in line with the buzzer to turn it off when needed. Another is those dam'd idle timers that companys force on drivers. If I have to sleep in a 120*+ sleeper, then THEY should be required to turn there a/c off at home. Well, another relay in line with the shutdown lite and end of shutdown timer! All the "fleet" truck features that company trucks have, that drivers hate, can be bypassed. Safety stuff like the low air and others should be left operable or at least turned back on.

PM me for the details.

You'll get used to it. I put many miles on the same rig you're talking about. Its there for the dummies that go down the road with their bags dumped and or power divider locked. I wouldn't go messing with it. If anything, remove the daytime running light relay in the fuse panel, that way you can flash to pass and drivers will be able to distinguish lights on/off... NOT HIGHBEAMS to pass. . either on/off or not at all. . no highbeams please DRIVERS and fellow on highway users. Also don't thank drivers/ 4 inch wheelers for the highbeam flash. . only if on/off. . sorry off my soapbox. Oh yeah get that turn signal on while climbing up the get on ramp, not when you're already at the top... signal your intentions early. . and remember, either on/off or not at all.

The CX I test drove had the idle timer. Pretty dumb. What I found was, that if you use the cruise control switches to bump up the idle speed a little, it won't shut down the engine. :D

Got that right.

What's a sleeper anyways. ;) None of our trucks have a shack out back. :{ No biggie hauling grain, but hauling cattle, it would be nice. KW cabs are to narrow for me to sleep across the seats.

And what world are you living in? I've always been told to do a quick high beam during the day for signal and on-off at night. I've also driven truck and I prefer highs during the day anyway... . makes no mistake on the signal..... But what do I know... I just drive 4-wheelers now. I've had trucks run me off the road on lane changes even though my low beams were on and I was doing a hammer lane pass. Whats the point if you cant see low-beams anyway??
