I had a door lock go bad the other day. Did as search here and found a couple posts about them. Thought I would go and check for a busted wire like Bighammer found. Sure enough I found a wire broke in two. Two of the other small wires needed taped in bare spots. I guess you should not use the back doors they are there for decoration! I would like to replace the harness if the cost is not to bad.

I have not had this problem yet, but for those who do, here's some advice.

Don't just solder or crimp back the old wires. They are fatigued (the metal hardens and has micro cracks). Cut and strip as close to the connector and the door as you can, then splice in a longer, high quality, multi-strand wire (the more/thinner strands, the more flexible). Solder in both places, and use shrink connectors over the solder, and leave longer than stock. Push the solder joint and the extra length inside the door if you can. It's better if it is a little coiled up inside the rubber boot, than stretched to the limit.

Hey I am bringing this back up. I have a part number for a door harness for the rear door of my truck. It had 4 broken wires. 5605 1931AB. I have seen it for $100 to $160. I will try to solder mine.

Figured out my back door wasn't locking after I checked to see if it was locked and the alarm went off. Wonder how long it's been like that. I'm ******, glad I ran across this thread so I know what the fix is. Sounds like solder and heat shrink tubing.

just fixed mine , about 6 wires broken. Very poor design, seems to kink . I wrapped black tape around that area hopefully to spread the flex across a larger length. I soldered and heat shrunk tubed all the joints. Will see how long it goes for.

P. S. this thread and the other one noted above saved me a lot of time. THANKS
