jefe here. I bought new a 2001.5 4WD Dodge 2500, HO-CTD (not a 53 block), SB, QCab, Vulcan Big Line, upgrade pusher lift pump, 170K miles, NV5600, NV241HD, 4.10's, 3" lift steer brace Gen4 trkbar/tie rod/drag-link Front axle: 35 spline Dana 70 spindle conversion with M M locking hubs; Detroit TRUE TRAC Mosier hardened axle shafts unit bearing&axle disconnect delete, 35" AT3 315/75R16's on 7.5" steel wheels. Rear: 8 leaf, 5" lift, Stable Loads, 35 spline Dana 80, TRUE TRAC, AT3 315/75R16 on 10" wide Stockton steel wheels. 15K lb. Warn winch, 1998 Lance Lite, 8'6", 165-s XTC, 200W solar.
I have kept the engine pretty much stock except for the repositioning of the upgrade lift pump to in front of the fuel tank and the lengthening of what I think is the waste gate hose to allow the turbo to kick in at a lower rpm. Also an upgrade air cleaner. I have only a fuel pressure idiot light which kicks in when the pressure drops below 5 pounds. No problem so far with the VP44.
The symptom is a very slow spool up of the turbo and the pitch seems lower than previously, plus a obvious lack of boost and power even when I'm running the truck without a load. Most of the time my 2500 pound Lance Camper resides on the bed. I do have heavier custom made Stockton steel wheels and heavier tires that also dumb down the power. For kicks, here's a link to what I do with 20 pounds of air in the tires: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bfj5y93wsd7vfkw/jefe does sand hill at dry wash of the devil Anza.m4v?dl=0
Do I need a system leak down test?
