Have a 99 2500 ,running a hypertech programmer 220,000 miles auto and 3.55.coming back from wv on recent camping trip dads truck same setup except 5 speed pulled Goshen my at 60 I pulled at 50 we r within 300lbs of each other he's running stage 2 I'm on 3.
Will a straight drive pull that much better or do I have issues'thanks woody

Does your dad have 3.55's as well? What gear did you both pull it in? OD in the 47RE is not a good hill climber with any kind of weight especially with 3.55's. If your having a hard time maintaining speed pulling a grade hit the OD button, this will lock the torque convertor in 3rd and allow the engine to run higher rpm's. I have the same set up as you, I will do what I mentioned and let er run up to 2300-2400rpm. At that rpm range you should be able to pull most any grade out there.

Yes we both have 3.55,I always turn od off as soon as it shifts. He thinks I might need injectors. It has original injectors with 220,000 miles on it.boost used to be 20lbs now it only gets 18 at wot .
Thinking of putting rv275's in and lowering to stage 2.any ideas or suggestions would be greatly be appreciated.

Have you verified your wastegate is moving freely? Do you have a boost elbow? The HX35 normally wastegates around 20psi IIRC.

At 220k miles it is possible your injectors are in need of replacement but under the right circumstances they can go alot further. My former 2000 is over 400k and still on original injectors, but it also had better than OEM fuel filtration from early on so that likely played a big role in their longevity. If you don't want to replace yours you can always pull them and have them pop tested to see if they are still within spec.
RV275s are a great injector and provide a mild boost in power. I'm running a set and have been happy with them but if I was going to do it again I would probably buy a set of 60hp sticks. An egt gauge is going to become much more critical if you do decide to add injectors. In stock form these engines are almost bullet proof but when you start adding fuel (bigger injectors) and timing (programmer) it's time to start paying attention to egt's especially when pulling long grades.

Have not checked wastegate (never thought bout it) I run fleetgaurd filters change oil and fuel every 10,000 .run fuel pressure gauge, transmission temp, boost and egt.have the fass replacement pump with relocation kit and inline filter before pump.
What needs to be checked on wastegate
Also should mention I have a 53 block and know that not all are bad but still on my mind as far as more power is added.transmission was rebuilt at 102,000 some upgrades kevlar band 'goerend tc triple and 2nd gear band strut.
