Shawn,

The first Hot Edge that I installed didn't make my clutch slip at all on the first day. I could shred the tires at will in level 3. I didn't notice any slippage until the middle of the second day, so I backed it down to Level 2 and there was no slipping.

The first box had a stumble and Brett graciously traded it back to me for another one that developed a stumble about a week after the install. There was still no slipping of the clutch in Level 2 but I could slip it at will in Level 3.

Brett then again came to my rescue and asked me if I wanted to try there hottest set up ever. I agreed to pay the extra money for the set up and found that Level 2 would slip my clutch a little if I punched the go pedal while running 55mph. That should give you an idea of how Hot this latest box is. I've had no stumbles of any kind with this box. I have had a lot of clutch slipping, but it hasn't put a frown on my face by no means. I know that I can fix the slipping with the help of Peter.

I can get a good cloud of smoke with the stock injectors in Level 2 but when I put it in Level 3, you'd think I had DDIII injectors installed:D

Steve I was in your neck of the woods when I went Hybrid trolling down at lake Jordan acouple of weeks ago. I do not envy you with the kind of traffic through Durham that I experienced. We headed back through the middle of Durham and like a dummy I didn't pay any attention at the time of day it was. It happened to be 5:15pm and I was fighting off BMW's left and right towing that boat through town.

I may have to look you up as when I do the DDIII install it will be unchartered territory for me and I'll need some serious help so I don't screw anything up.

Wowzy,

I'll sure help you out any way I can on the injector install. I've only done it once, on my rig. I have an inch/lbs torque wrench and crows feet wrenches I got to do it with.

When I did mine, I replaced the connector tubes (purchased at Cummin's ~$15 bucks a piece, in Greensboro). I don't think you will need them for your 99. Mine is a 98. 5 and the part was upgraded.

Have you done any lift pump/fuel line mods? (I haven't yet) Planning on a fuel pressure guage soon, though.

Hey you catch any fish? I go up to Kerr Lake for Stripers, but haven't been lately. Mostly, lately, been down to Harris Lake bass fishing.

Keep the Edge Comp, install a clutch!

After having the Edge Comp, there is no way I could go back to anything less. Yes, it will slip the stock clutch. I have only had this happen on level five. I will be purchasing a clutch from South Bend and installing it myself. I won't pay some non-caring mechanic several hundred dollars to do something I can do myself. The Edge Comp is a great addition and it is great being able to adjust it on the fly.

Steve, It was too hot that day for Hybrids and White bass. They were all hunkered down on the bottom of every depression deeper than 25ft. We tried taking the rear treble hook off our diving plugs and tying the bucktails too them to try and get them down where the fish were as the wouldn't hit anything but Bucktails that day according to some of the old timers.

We couldn't get them deep enough even speeding the boat up little. The day wasn't a complete loss though as the friend that owned the boat got his plug hung on a stump near this little 20ft. diameter island in the middle of the lake. While he was trying to get his plug loose, I casted my plug over at the island and caught a 9lb. Largemouth. He got his plug loose and took the Bucktail off and put the treble hook back on and we forgot about the Hybrids and tried to score another Largemouth. About 10 min. later I caught an 8lb Largemouth. We left about an hour later with myself pronounce king fisherman of the day.

He was mad as hell that he got skunked in his own boat and was even upset that I released the 2 monsters back at the island. Hey I hope somebody else has fun catching these 2.

More to the saga... . The PE slips the clutch a bit when the motor hits the torque peak at 2200... . :( Even on Level one... I must have a weak clutch... :(:(:( (I was pulling a 4000# boat at the time... )

And then... . while blowing a powerjoke into the weeds :) the "Check Engine" light came on... Friend of mine has a Snap-On scan tool - The codes where "Voltage too low from MAP sensor" and "DTC Code set in Engine Computer" - He cleared them and they havent come back, but I'm none too happy... The Van Aaken box, while being not nearly as powerful, sure had reasonable horsepower levels. I'm considering putting the VA back on and loosing the PE.

Any feedback is apprciated!!! :) Thanks!

Has anyone every had the "Check Engine" light come on with just the EZ box and injectors?

Just curious.

Shawn

Shawn, I have had a check engine light come on when I was swaping the injectors and / or boxes. (I recently have been chasing a light / intermittent miss). The light will come on if ypu turned your Ign switch on when any of the connectors or sensors were unhooked. Also some of our trucks have problems with a spike from the ECM or BCM to the Oil pressure sender causing it to freak out. If it is caused by on of the above conditions it will clear up after a start or two.

ADD ON Question: Is it just me or does the Check Engine Symbol come on in Yellow and red??

The "Check Engine" light might go out... but the CODE is still in memory... :( Need a scan tool to get rid of it, and then I'm not sure that the ECM forgets it... Lucky for me a friend of mine has the scan tool - and I noticed theres one in Summit too, if ya got $400... .
