Hi All, dont know to much about the 1st Gens but am curious what kind of power can be turned out of say a 93 Model with the 5 Speed. What are realistic numbers after playing with the pump, injectors, turbo, etc.

I have an auto, so figure your HP to do a little better for the same mods.

I have:

1. 12 CM wastegated exhaust housing

2. 3 inch straight pipe exhaust.

3. PW Injectors.

4. Moved timing ahead

5. Adjusted governor stop screws for more rpm ( + 250 rpm )

6. Turned up the fuel screw some (not sure of exact setting).

7. K&N air filter

I did not:

Adjust the diaphragm or no-air settings.

modify the trans in any way.

However, since my transmission bit the dust, perhaps that was a mistake. Overall cost was quite small, and my sig shows an honest 217 HP at the wheels.

While not astounding numbers, a few other 1st gen trucks and even a couple PSD's have challenged me only to find they were sadly lacking the necessities to see anything more than my tailgate :)

I have a pyro, and when towing, I can get past 900 post-turbo. I have never gotten to 900 otherwise. It takes several minutes of WOT pulling to get there.

jrandol,

PW probably has one of the "cleanest burning" 1st Gens around.

He has managed to achieve pretty decent HP with VERY carefull tuning and working up to it in a deliberate manner.

It's my opinion that with a "moderate" amount of mods/parts/adjustments the average 1st Gen can make between 180 - 210 REAR WHEEL HP.

It's important to remember that the factory "quoted" HP is flywheel HP, not Rear Wheel Horsepower.

In addition, those levels of HP improvements are very safe in terms of reliability, longevity, and the HP/mileage/performance goal that many are satisfied with.

Curious to est. H. P. /torque you think mine puts out. Fuel screw turned about one turn. Pump has been advanced/timed. 3. 5 exhaust, dynaflow muffler. banks inter cooler/40/42 hp industrial injectors,k&n filter. Inside of pump a virgin. Three turns on high idle screw. 14. 2 cm banks turbo housing,Thanks.

I am running a 14cm wastegated turbo, PW injectors, 3. 5 inch exhaust, "Green High Performance" air filter and a built VE pump. When I dyno'ed on 4/12 in Meridian ID it was with only 18 psi of boost (I forgot to turn the wastegate up). I feel that once I turn up my wastegate I will be pushing 270 hp. You can see my sig for my current numbers. I am looking into DD3's reconfigured for a 1st gen as my next step. From what Dave - HDM48 - is seeing they are cleaner than POD's and offer very good performance and mileage. To date everything I've done has resulted in increased performance and mileage. You just have to keep your foot out of it unless you need the power. :D :D :D

Bob:)
