2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Power-heated Towing mirrors for '94 - '06 upgrades

I just installed a set of Kool-Vue power heated towing mirrors on my '96. I've tried to put all the information, schematics, part numbers, wiring diagrams, and what to do information on my web site: Dodge Ram - Towing Mirror Upgrade Information - '94 to '06

Good info, Charlie. The one thing I noticed is that there is no foam gasket in the diagram. I would suggest that is also a necessary part, to keep everything sealed up. Anyone know if that part is sold seperately and, if so, what the part # is?

Heh. I left that out of mine, and now have a wind whistle.

I need to pry the top corner of the door panels back off, I think I can stuff the original foam glob back into the inside ... maybe with a little carving job. After I put these back in, I'll update the web page.

The Kool-Vue mirrors come with a 1/8" thick foam gasket that goes on the outside, similar to what I called the rubber pad on the parts diagram.

The web page should stay put at the same URL, that server has a lot of autmotive stuff on it.

How did you hook up the heat?

You show the wiring for the movement.

Haven't done it completely yet. I ran wires from the 2 black wires, through the door wiring tubing to the under dash area. I connected the wires from both mirrors together, and grounded one wire. The other one will be connected to +12 through a Radio Shack relay and a 10A inline fuse. The relay will be energised (to turn on mirror heat) with an illuminated rocker switch - so that the switch is lit up when the mirror heat is on.



I have updated the web page Dodge Ram - Towing Mirror Upgrade Information- '94 to '06, there are now pictures of my '96 with the mirrors folded and flipped up. There are also pictures of the '94-'97 3 wire connector showing which wire does what, and describing how to wire the 3 wire to 6 wire conversion.
