I have 370's in my truck and was just wondering what the limit on horsepower i can make with these. I have a 913 pump and laser cut dv's as part of my fueling system. I am just running a single turbo B1SP. The rest of the motor is a fully done up with billet cam,fly cut marine pistons and all the other good stuff. I am thinking the next step is some custom injectors but was wondering what i am probably running as far as power levels right now with these 370's. Matt
 
Let us know the weight of your truck and fast it can cover a 1/4 mile and the terminal speed... You can roughly calculate the HP/Tq from those figures - this is how the g-tech meters do it based on g-forces and time.
 
I don't think you gave us enough info. What other fueling mods do you have?



I assume the pump itself is not stock either? If that is the case it would be very tough to even guess at HP.

25* of timing!!!!!!!!:--) Is that safe?? I mean, I understand you are running a lot of fuel but DAMN!! I would think even 25* would melt pistons let alone 28*! What are your aftermarket bottom end mods??



EDIT: Oh, I see you are running marine pistons, but can they really take that much heat?? I thought 16. 5* of timing was a lot for those running 370s.

I do all of my own work on my truck but i have bought about everything from enterprise engine. Before i rebuilt the motor with the marine stuff and their pulling cam they told me to run it at about 20 degrees. Since the rebuild i have been told to run it at about 24-25 in the winter months and to bump it up to 28 when summer gets here. I think with any less timing this motor would be a bear to start with such low compression. I am running the thick head gasket along with the flycut pistions. Matt

I run 25* of timing. In fact I know many friends down here that run that and a few running more. Stock internals, no heat problems. Still running the stock 17. 5:1 compression (or is it 18:1:confused: )



Never had any problems, got the head o-ringed allthough ran for a while without that... . about 6 months actually. Runs beautifully with nary a hiccup. I would recommend it highly once you have the fuel for 400-450rwhp.



But to answer your question, You can take those babies almost as high as you want. I have seen some 600+ numbers out of the stock 370's so I know they are good for A LOT:D
 
timing

yeah i rec got a surprise when i checked my timing on my 1995 12 valve,im the third owner,i decided to ck the timing thinking i could bump it up to make it run better,spec for cpl 1550 stick is like 12. 5 deg,i was gonna move it to 15. 5 deg. well when i checked it i found it was at 20. 5 deg,i left it alone,it has allways been pretty strong. i did add 370 injectors,im happy but can you imagine how i felt when i checked and rechecked my timing?:--)
 
And as an Add-on to my last post, you won't melt pistons at that timing level. I have seen drag trucks run 35+* and not have any problems whatsoever. God but they could haul ass too:eek:
