Any idea what kind of hp loss occurs as outside temps rise? Obviously the intercooler can't lower the charged air temp as much as outside ambient temps rise, but anyone have an idea on how much you lose for say every 10* rise?

Now that mid day temps are over 100* here in Phx. , the truck seems sluggish and I was curious if this was the reason.

I know mine smokes more when the temps get above 90. Less dense air, more fuel = smoke.

well said Todd.
the same thing happens when we push single turbos over there maps. You spin the turbo so fast and it builds heat, and boost but the air density goes down because its above the p/r of the turbos. The same thing happens when you do twins unless the turbos are matched correctly.

Don't forget,,

The engine fan is running more often, and the Air Condition is on too.

Makes my truck a turtle when the fan is going full speed, A/C is on and my fog lights are on.
It gets over 100* here in Laredo,, Like,, ALL the time.

I was in Phoenix last week and the heat made a noticeable drop in seat-of-pants power. Even with the drop caused by 104F it sure was fun flying up Sunset Point #ad
Power came back to normal when the air temp dropped below "Hell Fire".

part of the problem is the freakin MORONS at DC put the A/C condensor in front of the intercooler #ad
, where do you think all that heat is going ??? i'm thinking of trying to reverse the 2 and get that thing behind the intercooler .

My max boost fluctuates 4 lbs depending on conditions. Best conditions: low to medium humidity 40-50 degrees; max boost 38 lbs. Runs like a rocket.

Noticeably more lag over 80 degrees and high humidity, max boost 34 lbs. Doesn't fall off from there.

Rule of thumb 10 hp per lb, that makes 40 hp variation due to weather! Note that it's a bombed rig.
