Hopefully someone here can confirm my thoughts on this issue and I won't think I'm going crazy... .
Last Saturday I installed a new set of 370's. I already had a Diesel Dynamics stage 2 plate, moved forward, of course and was pushing better than 30 psi of boost (gauge pegs at 30, but you can hear it spool up past that... ).
Went out for a test with a G-Tech Pro for a close HP number. Got 366 HP with plenty of smoke! :-laf
Now comes the problem, on Tuesday I had a set of new tires mounted... well, new to me. A buddy offered me a set of 285/75/16 MTRs with 5K on them for $200. How could I refuse?
When I ran the first HP test, I had my old 265/75/16 tires on... now that I have the larger MTRs installed and I re-run the HP test... . I can't break 300??? I thought that with the torque our engines can make the larger tire size would have made a very small difference. I know the G-Tech uses acceleration for all of it's calculation. So would the larger tires be robbing me of that much HP? Or is it just way it's being measured?
I checked out my pump last night, just to make sure everything there was a-ok. I did the fuel control lever check and it is hitting the plate just right. Although I wasn't able to see it move vertically up the plate as I moved the throttle, but I assume that is job of the governor.
I also checked my governor spring adjustment. I have a BAD stumble at 1250 rpm so I wanted to see if I could loosen them any... . Nope, couldn't loosen them... they were so loose that I don't think they were even at the first click! I backed it off by hand and never felt a click! So, I decided to go the other way with them... I gave them about 3 clicks tighter. That helped my idle and I think it has helped the stumble a little.
SO... . where can I go next to get more power? Different plate? New delivery valves? Timing?
Sorry for the length... and thanks in advance for any advice.
