hhahah, dang i cant wait to see it when you finish. by the way, i dont thing we have any good pictures of you truck, just the one in the magazine and the avatar.

im having no luck with my computer... im running linux and its not talking to my cameras software... anyhow im gonna try loading the pictures on my card and taking it over to a friends...

FINALLY... here are the pictures of the 3 pin harness and the "mystery plug" i found recently under the hood, i thought you guys would know what it might be. . i swear i never noticed it before and i cant seem locate where it belongs... anyhow let me know what you think ill be ordering gauges tomorrow i think im gonna just go ahead and order the pre 92 tach kit... im also posting some pictures of my rig tell me what you think... thanks guys have a good one.

ok JB, just went out and took a gander at whats under my dash, and compaired it with yours. im willing to bet that your 3 prong female mystery harness IS your tach hook up. heres my reasoning. the wire you show coming out of it are the red/yellow, black, and orange. my tack hook up has a black, orange, black, and a grey/blue-pin-stripe. the orange and the black are the same. the grey/blue one on mine i think is the difference in years, and the orange/yellow one of youres i think is what the other black one of mine is. basically what im saying is this. i think the orange is probly your sensor lead, the black is your ground, and the red/yellow one is the lead coming from the dimmer for your light. one of the head light wires on my truck is the exact color code, red/yellow stripe.

the 3rd picture looks like your water in fuel sensor. i leave mine off cause the light always stays on.

thanks jg so if your correct i need to test those wires and see what kind of reading im getting... ill do that and let you know thanks a million! and for the water fuel sensor where will i find the input for that? i looked all over under there, as usual... nothing. where should i be looking? just above the fuel filter or what?

oh and i was just thinking... is it possible that having a few extra feet of fuel line and extra filter from my veg oil system could reduce fuel pressure enough to cause power loss? if so could i use a higher pressure lift pump? bigger fuel lines? although i guess that couldnt be my main problem cause it ran great for a while before the transmission was rebuilt and i didnt change a thing other than the injectors which i think are leaking, i noticed when i was bleeding my injector lines that the number one and three injectors have super small bubbles popping out when there is fuel on the rubber rings between the injector and the nut i think that there not sealed properly? do you think that could be the problem? oh and how could i check for a leak in my fuel lines or fittings? ive heard of using break cleaner or wd-40 do you guys recommend that?

you welcome. let me know what you find out. as for the WIF sensor, you should have the other end coming from the bottom of the filter, where the push-in disc is, that allows you to drain the water/fuel out the bottom. that little black unit that screws into the filter, should have 2 black wires coming out of it, that go to the end of the harness, that should mate up with the end you showed in the picture.

sorry im not much help on the fuel system question. but, im considering doing the peanut oil too, how do you like it? was it very hard to set up?

Jimmy, use your FSM for something other than helping you to see over the steering wheel! #@$%!

If you had looked, you would see that the wire colors aren't right. Orange is the dash illumination, dash lights! Black is ground, and I can't find the red/white.

The tach plug isn't a sealed connector type. It's gray, and has flat type pins.

haha dang peter, i sensed some hatred in your tone there...

i can see over the steering wheel just fine thank you :D im well over 6foot with the work boots on. aint got much heft to me, but i sure aint short.

yea i should have get out the fsm to check the colors. my apologies JB.

pete - i know how the tach hook up looks on the 92-up trucks, but his is different, so i didnt have any reason to think it should be a flat blade connector anyhow. i wasnt exactly expecting to see a round post connector either, mind you, but it was somthing... what do you think the hook up is, that he showed?

thanks jimmy but yeah petes correct i found that out this morning when i tested the harness the orange wire is dash illumination and the red/yellow is turn signals???... wonder what the harness is for? weird huh? i guess ill order the pre 92 kit and get it over with... and as for the harness under the hood in the (third picture) i cant seem to find the water fuel sensor input. could it be in a different location on my truck? anyway what do you guys think about the leaking injectors could that be my problem? thanks again have a good one

is there a chance that its a hook up for trailer wires? it would make sense, running lights, turn signal, etc. just wondering. the WIF sensor could be in a different spot on your truck.

Jimmy, I don't get like that, just poking ya! ;)

I went out to look at my tach plug, I was going to take a pic. Turns out some SOB cut the end off the wires, and used them to wire in the current tach!

I also looked for that 3 wire plug, I don't have that, that I could see.

I just looked in the FSM, no clue what those wires do!

JB, the WIF sensor screws into the bottom of the fuel filter. Kinda hard to miss. If there isn't a black thing attached to the filter, somebody removed it and put a different filter on there.

yea i know pete. haha no worries... my problem isnt seeing over the wheel, its not hitting my head in the door jam when i get in and out. :-laf

ive checked under my dash, and i dont think i have the 3 prong plug either.

JB, as i saw in your picture, you have the black screw on cap on the end of your filter. so im wondering if the wires were cut off by someone? because you should have about 6inches of 2 black wires coming from that cap that plug into the harness thats hanging.

thanks pete. yea thats what im thinking.

hey a quick question, not to hijack the thread here. but. speaking of powerloss. is there anyway to make the idle stronger? bear with me now. i dont mean raise the rpm. i mean make it so when i let the clutch out, the motor dosent bogg down soo much. yall get where im coming from here. for example. on flat ground, 2nd gear, no load... ease off the clutch with no throttle, it drops to 500rpms or less. i dont remeber it being this bad when i first got the truck. the other day i was on a hill. 2nd gear, reved it up to 1100rpms or so, and let off the clutch, dropped to 300 rpms and nearly died, it barley cranked up tho and i layed into it to get her moving.

will the 366, cranking up the fuel, advancing the timing, etc. help me with this problem? even 1st gear dosent seen that strong anymore. you still cant go fast in it, but it still feels week. oh yea, and is it bad for the motor, or the trans/clutch if i start using 1st gear a lot more, just to get things roling? the guy i bought the truck from said dodge told him to use 1st as little as possible cause if he used it too much it would damage the transmission?

hey thanks guys im gonna change my fuel filters this weekend ill take a closer look at that... and i ordered my FSM this morning from geno's it should be here early next week or so... i got some new copper crush seals for my injectors ill be re installing them this weekend i hope that solves some of my problem... and hey you still havent said anything about brake cleaner for testing for leaks on fuel lines... . supposedly when sprayed on a leak the engine will start to idle faster when the brake cleaner or wd 40 is taken in, could that do harm to the engine? i was thinking brake cleaner would dry out the rubber fuel lines... and ohh yeah how do i post pictures on my profile?

On all 4 of the trucks I have looked at and hooked up a tach to the factory plug in, the FSM has the colors wrong- it is supposed to be red (12v), orange (dimmer), grey (signal), and black (ground). There is no red, but 2 blacks. These were all 92. 5/ 93s (CPL 1579), though. May make a difference.
