Well, here's another weird one for y'all. The office truck was supposed to be an SRW, but came as a DRW, and was supposed to have power mirrors, but doesn't. It has those lil' mirrors that are as cute as bugs' ears and about as useful.

We need to convert to a power mirror harness, with control, and install a set of Cipa extending mirrors.

Can anyone find the wire harness part numbers we will need?

More weirdness to come.

I've got a stock set of heated power mirrors off my 03 if they will help. It could be the harness is there already, pulling the panel back will verify.

If you really want tow mirrors you might consider the factory heated power tow mirrors.

Harness or Not

Yes. We plan to pull off a door panel and look. The rubber wire loom between the door and jamb is in place, but it feels like it only has the door speaker wires in it. We are hopeful, though . . .

The TSM with wire diagrams is on order.

Matt, I had a guy that hauls trailers for a living tell me that the Cipa's he had weren't very good. The glass vibrated quite a bit and then fell out. On the other hand, I do kind of like them. They are huge! You might take a look at the "Telescopic Trailer Tow Mirror by Schefenacker" They have a good sized regular mirror and a decent sized convex (wide view) mirror. They should be on sale at Simpson Tool Box Co. , this weekend. They are having a 25 Anniversary sale at their McDowell-I-17 store. Where do You live in Glendale? Hope this helps. Joe.

The trick with the Cipa mirrors to prevent vibration is to install them with a 1/4 inch drive torque wrench with a 0 to 25 inch pound scale. The instructions call for 18 inch pounds, which is tighter than it"feels" like it ought to be. I've had Cipas on my 1996 for two years, and they don't vibrate at all.

I live near Sahauro Ranch Park. We have a Cummins neighborhood, with one oddball who just had to have a Ford.

Matt, I live near 39 Ave. and Bell Rd. I don't know if you are interested, or not, but, I just bought a set of the Tow Mirrors, for an '03, that are power and heated at Bill Luke Dodge for $307. 00 +tax. That's , by far, the cheapest i've found at a Dodge dealer. I got them from "Joe" at the Chrysler/Jeep parts counter (not the Dodge counter). I bought gear oil and trans. fluid from him, in the past, and He was quite a bit cheaper than the other dealers. Tell him the other dealers are awfully high and is there anything he can do to help you out. That's the approach I used, and it worked. He's a nice guy, also. Hope this helps. Joe.

Wires, though.

Thanks, Joe. I've had similar experiences at the Luke Jeep parts side. They have a sounter man there who understands AMC parts, which came in handy for a time.

We'll see what happens. If the wires and connectors are in place in the doors, the whole job gets easier.
