Hi,have enjoyed reading most posts over the last week. Have a 95 2WD CC LB auto. 90K miles. Run empty(800# sand in winter), 12K# 5th wheel RV ocassionally. I am thinking of a new trans from DC with all upgrades and DTT TC & VB. I am unsure what power mods to do. I do all my own mechanical and maintenance on my vehicles. Have large shop with hoist and most tools. Each vendor I talk with has a different idea, one says go to 775 # Torque with 4",K&N, cam plates, and Turbo housing. Next says only cam plates & injectors. I am thinking after reading Joe Donnelly's excellent article, Air+Fuel=Power, maybe just mild cam plates or maybe adjusting stock ones and Pscotty intake (made in Calgary 10 miles from my house). Any and all advice will be welcome.
Also did complete brake job using Raybestos super stoppers, all new parts except M. Cyl. and rebuilt calipers. Still not happy with brakes. Any ideas?

the real question is how much do you want?
I'm sure Piers at BD(1 800 887 5030) would be more than happy to add as much power as you want. They are in Abbotsford. The choice is yours on how much.
be fair warned you'll get caught in the disease called bombitis. #ad

Balzac,

You should see Bill K. at DTT and get his transmission. It will be already modified so you will be spending less money. The other thing is that his stuff is not one size fits all. You can get the transmission set up for the way you drive. Also best service on the planet.

Pulling a 12,000 lb fifth wheel you will want 250-280 rear wheel HP minimum. 250 will allow you to maintain 55 mph on a 6 percent grade, 280 will hold 60 mph. Also, 280 rear wheel hp (350 flywheel hp) is probably the maximum on a sustained pull that the stock cooling system will keep cool (with torque converter lockup). Also, at 280 HP and above you may have to open up the exhaust to keep the EGT in the safe range during a long pull.

Power mods are cheap up to 250-270 rear wheel HP, more expensive 280 HP and up.
