Hey all TDR members! I'm looking to get some feedback from you on power upgrades. Hopefully my truck info shows up in my signature... The next upgrade that I'm planning on is a performance chip. My budget is limited, and I'm putting a wanted post in classifieds. I'm either thinking an Edge EZ or a TST Powermax 2(if I can find one at the right price... ). Can anyone give me any feedback on these two products? Also, I'm considering a Quadzilla, a Superchips Programmer, or basically anything else I can find. I would appreciate any feedback, along with technical information for them all if you know. Thanks! :)

DNewell,

These are all good products, it just depends on what you are looking for. i would go with a van Aaken V5 over the Edge EZ. They are about the same chip but the van Aaken gives a lot nicer low end power and you can get them quite a bit cheaper. If you are looking for alot more power then the TST or Edge Comp are the way to go but you will have to upgrade your trans when running that much power.

Any idea where I can find the pricing of a van Aaken V5? I checked out their website, but didn't see any pricing information.

I wouldn't buy any VA boxes from VFI. These are old (4 or more years) boxes that they say are new but are actually just refurbished old boxes. They are also the R box and not the V5 so they plug into the pump. We have had 5 people now call us to see if we could reprogram these boxes because they had problems. The boxes are so old that most of the time there is nothing we can do and the Warranty from VA is only 1 year. I wouldn't buy one but that is just my 2 cents.

I dont know about the problems with the original Van Aaken R box but I have one that has not given me any problems at all. I also find this box puts out waaay more bottom end power than an EZ. Yes, the R does plugs into the injection pump and I have never had a problem with servicing work done either.
