My 06 dually with 34,000 miles just had all 6 injectors replaced and all 6 fuel lines. The high pressure fuel valve failed and excess pressure blew out 5 of 6 injectors. When they were removed fuel ran out of them.
I noticed over a few weeks time that it would idle a little rough sometimes, then would idle OK. Never any smoke and nothing ever out of the ordinary.
So after my check engine light comes on and DC says the high pressure fuel valve is failing... . I set up replacement of valve a week later. 5 days later i notice again rough idling from a mile from home. That last mile i notice that my fuel gauge is at 3/4 and it should be a F or just below. Where did the fuel go?
Now idling in garage i see oil in driveway... uh oh. I look underneath and black fluid is being sprayed down and out of my draft tube... uh oh again... . I shut off engine asap. I check oil dipstick, oil is up at least 12"! Got to be diesel in oil... . which it was.
I always ran power puck on 60hp for more mpg, not more power. Never tried it at the 90hp setting.
Now I have researched this power puck on the web and found out on the Cummins forums that the puck should not be turned on all the time because the fuel line pressure is way too high, it pegs fuel pressure gauges when turned on... . and blows injectors due to the extreme high pressures and blows out the high pressure fuel valve. All they described happened to me.
Just a word to the wise. Anybody want a power puck, make an offer.
Now i wonder how my engine parts are doing considering i thinned the engine oil with diesel for an unknown amount of time.
