Anyone ever heard of the Power Raptor Timing Box? From what I read it sounds similar to an EZ box, for timing etc..... Saw it at : www.drivetrain.com

Put fire and economy into your Dodge Ram Cummins, our custom designed power circuit "PowerRaptor" is specifically programmed to enhance your vehicles performance; 85 additional horsepower, 265 foot pounds of torque and between 2 and 6 miles per gallon. All data sent from The Raptor is within the limits of the Bosch injection pump; it does not exceed the trucks power train design. The Raptor maximizes engine efficiency by monitoring the RPM, timing, turbo boost pressure and fuel parameters to enhance both fueling and timing. The increase in power does not cause an increase in exhaust smoke from a stock engine. Now available for 1998-2003 pickup trucks with the 24 valve Cummins engine, our new PowerRaptor offer:

Improves Economy

Increases Horsepower

Additional Hill climbing Capability

Improves Acceleration

Circuit externally installed on existing sockets, between MAP sensor and Diagnostic Port

5 minute installation!

The following table presents an application guide, this table will assist you in identifying the rear wheel performance that you can expect:

MODEL YEAR

Part Number

Additional Horsepower

Additional Torque

1998-2000 RAPDYS0010 85

265

2001-2002 RAPDYS0020 85

265

2003

RAPDYS0030 85

265

With such dramatic performance improvements, one of your first questions might be regarding overkill. The Power Circuit (Black Box) is engineered to safely protect the drive train of your vehicle. Even though the engine is capable of even more horsepower, the integrity of the emissions and the longevity of the drive train through increased operating temperature would be compromised. The PowerRaptor performance is gained by adjusting the critical timing of the fuel pump and injectors, jumper pins are also provided to allow you to maximize fuel economy, great for fleet operators.

We are so sure of performance improvements produced by the PowerRaptor that we will guarantee increase in rear wheel horsepower. We offer this truly amazing new chip to you via the Internet at $690. 00, plus S/H charge. You must remove the PowerRaptor before visiting the Dodge dealership for maintenance or repair. See our easy to following installation instructions

I've got the Raptor module, it's a re-badged Edge EZ according to Dyno Sources, the place where I bought mine. In all honesty, I'm not sure it is any different than an EZ. I contacted the place I bought it and was told it was altered but they could not tell me the difference. I do like my Raptor however, it's been a great module so far without any problems. andy

Magical Question Time

Sounds like what I've been waiting for. However, - Quote "The Power Circuit (Black Box) is engineered to safely protect the drive train of your vehicle. " End Quote - does this include Stock Automatic Trans? and, if so does "Drivetrain" stand behind their claim if a failure occurs?

Not trying to start a war just information seeking - like everyone else I'd like a bit more power too.

Yeah, I read that part and said, hmmmm... ... . dont think so! Sounds like a good little box though. Price is really no different than a EZ though so I am having a little of a hard time justifying tryin a somewhat unproven box.

I run one

Bought mine used on E-bay and can say it really lays down the power. Hard to make any comparison since I never ran any other mods. I can definetly tell you that I did not gain ANY mileage. I have kept a log and my mileage is down by about 1 mpg since installing the Raptor. Could be my lead foot, I still get 20mpg on the highway and never see under 17mpg unless towing which I rarely do. The box pulls really hard from about 1600rpm's to around 2300 rpm. It does make a little smoke whith the Jumpers set on "full power now". Can not discredit or verify Dyno claims but SOP meter says "I would not be caught without it now"

Once I get the trans upgrades I am going up in power and may try stacking it, Has anyone tried this?

My advice if buying new would be to try several boxes if possible and buy what suits you. I think Van Aken, EZ, BD,etc are similar in performance gains, not sure if there is a big difference. I cvan tell you that A guy at work has a 1/2 ton Hemi and after riding in my CTD he will not race me. (probably good cause I am not sure I could take him anyway)

;)

If its a rebadged EZ it put out 20 more HP and 80 more ft/lbs of torque. I'd like that out of my EZ!

Wonder if I sent my EZ back if they could reprogram it to this power level?
