I've heard a rumor that I am doubting. When you cycle the key on and off 3 times to display any fault codes I was told that this programs the computer to boost your horsepower for that starting cycle. Anyone know what somebody might have been referring to or if there is any truth to this?

By doing that on the 2000 model years & forward it will prompt the PCM to display any codes set in the ECM. Try it. Look at your odometer.

PS... . It doesn't work on my 99. 2000 up it does though.

Yes, I know it is how you see any fault codes in your odometer window, thanks though. Just wanted to be sure there wasn't any possibility of any truth in the legendary urban wife's monkey business that this would temporarily change computer settings to increase power (I doubted it). Thanks for your replies!
