On the home page of the TDR today is an article about fuel system additives. It says " strong word of caution: avoid any fuel treatment product that has alcohol or acetone". Does any one have a Power Service bottle handy. Does power service contain alcohol or acetone? Can you tell me if this fuel sup. is OKAY to use in my 01?

Thanks Dave

The bottle states that it contains no alcohol of any kind, it does not mention acetone. I have been using it in my truck since I bought it as a result of what I read in these forums, about 13,000 miles. It currently has 110k on it and I have no record of what it's previous owner used or didn't use.

Thanks for the reply Ward. I have also used this product in my truck(s) for about 4 years now with no issues. I read the article on the home page and the article in the mag. and did not get the info I was looking for. I see from the article that they make no claim of mileage, but no info on the chemistry of the product.

Thanks

Dave

PS has no alcohol or acetone. Neither does Howes.

Right now Geno's (TDR) is pushing Cummins/Valvoline. I have used all of them, including Cummins, and found best results from Howes. Their Lubricator makes the engine quieter. Their Meaner Diesel Kleener gets me 1mpg increase in mileage on a regular basis.

Both PS and Howes are cheaper than Cummins.

I use 10 oz of PS (Gray Bottle) and 8 oz of MMO every tank ... 140K miles on the truck (70K are mine) ... no problems yet ... touch wood.

I have been using PS since my first fill up, 4600 miles and counting. I use 16oz. per fill up. I have been wanting to also try MMO with the PS but have not yet. The only thing is that no one have ever told me what are the extra benefits of using MMO with the PS. What make the MMO PS combo do that PS does not?

I've used PS for over 20yrs, but only in the winter. I add nothing in the summer, never had a prob with any diesel yet!

Troy,

I use the PS as a cetane boost, cleener and whatever else if supposed to do but notice the MMO helps quieten <--- (is this a word?) the engine a lot more than without it in the mix.

Kevin

The bottle I buy from Walmart is $13 or $14. 96oz I think. I put 10oz per tank... I normally fill at 1/4 tank, so even 10oz is a little overkill.

I have used Power Service for 200,000 mi in my last truck, my wifes Mercedes 300d had 300,000 mi and I currently have 30,000 trouble free miles using Power Service.

I am not only a Power Service dealer but also a user. :D

Diesel Kleen in every tank when anti-gel qualities are not necessary, and Diesel Fuel Supplement (white bottle) in every tank during the colder months. Good stuff. Also use their Slime-X biocide for algae issues.

Too bad it isn't cost effective to ship the stuff, otherwise I'd sell more.

I've used Howe's, Power service diesel kleen, Seafoam, and several others I cant even remember.

I like the PS diesel kleen. Seems to do a little better MPG's. I fill up in bulk :-laf , so it's hard to say for sure.

The reason I use it is because it's available at just about every store, heck I think IGA might even carry it :-laf
