After reading an extensive thread on fuel additives on the TDR recently, and the benefit of lubrication of the VP44, I decided to give it a shot. I am wary of advertised claims of manufactures regarding all the wonderful things products will do for your vehicle, most of which have proved empty promises.

However, after trying out the Power Source additive on a trip to Vegas pulling the 5ver, a trip that I have made numerous times, I was shocked at the difference in pulling power. The So Cal to Vegas run is about 260 miles, with some pretty nasty grades on the way. One in particular is the Cajon Pass, a 12 mile long 6% to 7% winding monster, that increases to about 8% the last mile. Normally I would be in 5th, pulling along at about 50 mph, but running strong. On this trip I was certain I could have pulled it in 6th at 55+ (if the Fords would get out of the way :p ).

It also stopped a noise that I noticed ever since installing the Edge. I would get kind of a "rumble" when I was heavy into the go pedal on a grade with the 5ver in tow. Not bad, just kind of like a knock from a gasser running low octane fuel. With the Power Source, the knock was gone, and I could feel the added power under my foot.

The amount ratio I used for the test was 8oz to a full tank. The bottle claimed a 3 cetaine number increase for 8oz, and 6 for the whole 16oz bottle. I think I payed $3. 99 a bottle at the local PEP BOYS.

I'm not sure if the other fuel additives work the same, but I'm satisfied with the Power Source... ... ... ;) This in one product that was as good as it's claim! Sarge

I've been using PS fuel additive since day one.

Keep an eye on the Napa big truck sales brochure, last year about this time they were selling the 96oz grey bottle additive for $7. 99

That a super value :)

BTW Happy Birthday Sarge :D

It's actually called Power Service & there are 2 versions (commonly) available -- anti-gel & regular. I've used both & really haven't noticed a difference, but then I live in Florida. Only bought the anti-gel stuff out of ignorance. 1st time diesel owner & didn't know better.

Wally-Mart sells the regular PS in 96oz container for $10. 64 & I've seen the same thing at Tractor Supply for $9. ?? so Bob's heads up on the Napa price of $7. 99 is a GREAT deal! Thnx Bob.
