Since Valvoline discontinued the SynTech line, I've searched my local stores looking for a replacement synthetic power steering fluid that'll help with cold weather issues to no avail. Chrysler does not recommend atf so I'm thinking Mobile 1 engine oil in either 0w20 or 5w30.

Anyone tried either?

No wonder I could not find Syn Tech anymore I have two bottles left but I am interested in a replacement also. Thanks for posting this

I would not run motor oil in in a hydraulic system. Do the Amsoil, like fest3er said, it's better than Valvoline or Mobil anyway.

I just flushed and put in Redline synthetic PS fluid. Readily available via summitracing.com. I also have a magnafine filter inline on the return side and you would not believe how effective it filters.

Back when I was big into off roading, I had some dealings with Howe and their power steering and hydro assist systems. They strongly suggested using genuine GM power steering fluid and also to stay far away from any type of ATF. According to Howe, the GM PSF is fully synthetic and top quality. My buddy used it in his truck and it worked great with his Howe hydro assist. I used regular old parts store brand PSF with my Redneck Ram hydro assist. Neither one of us had any fluid related issues.

Well, just to close my part of the thread. The local NAPA is ordering in two bottles of Royal P.

My current work involves lots of miles through small towns, I stopped in a small parts store Friday and (and predictablly after ordering the RP) found 4 old stock bottles of SynPower power steering fluid. So I'm set.

Thanks for the replys.
