Is it alright to use prestone or stp brand power steering fluid instead of the mopar brand that the manual says to use? Mopar brand costs much more.

I'm not sure about those particular brands, but several of us are using Valvoline SynPower semi-synthetic PS fluid with good results. It costs around $4 a quart. I used cheap PS fluid to first flush out the old fluid via the "turkey baster" method, and then finished up with the more expensive SynPower. It takes many flushes to see an improvement of clearer fluid, but the results were good for me.

Any major brand of fluid is suitable, just make sure the label states it is compatible with the make of vehicle you're putting it in.
