I have a leaking power steering hose on my 04. 5 and I can't find a replacement anywhere. The local Dodge dealer has one for $92. That seems like a lot for a short, simple hose. Napa, Carquest and Sturdevants couldn't come up with one. They only show the hose that runs between the hydra boost and the steering box. The one leaking on my truck runs from the hydra boost to the pump on the serpentine belt. Why is it so expensive and hard to find? Couldn't I just have a hydraulic hose made to fit at the local tractor repair shop or is there something special about this one? Going on a several hundred mile trip with my fifth wheel camper in less than a week and would like to get it fixed before I leave but don't want to spend a hundred bucks unless I have no other choice.

The relief setting on the pump is around 1450-1550 pounds. If replacement hose is rated for that then you should be ok. bg

Pulled off my leaking hose today and took it to a local shop that makes and repairs hydraulic hoses. The leak was right in the middle of the rubber part of the hose. They cut the hose where the bad spot was and crimped in a splice. Cost me about $4. I put it back on and everything seems to work just fine. This saved me a lot of money if it holds up.
