Just had the EXACT same noise develop on my truck on the way back from Thanksgiving. Took the truck to local dealer and they spent ALL day tracking down the source of the noise to no avail. When I found this post, I called the advisor to give them the info. They called back 20 min. later and said the Hydroboost needed replaced! I will ask if they noticed the liner issue when I pick it up. Wish I was there when the tech pulled the hoses, would like to look fo myself!

Picked up truck Friday and service advisor said they found the inner liner of the hose had worked it's way out and into the hydroboost, that is why it was replaced along with the hose. I think I should let their techs in on TDR, would have saved them a whole day of searching for the source of the problem! My truck was the first of this problem they have seen I suspect.

hydro boost hissing too

What is the status of this issue now? Because my truck is doing exactly the same thing, it started just before my 36k warranty ended so I took it in, the shop removed and replaced the hydro-boost unit and the brand new one is hissing just like the old one

I will pull off the hoses and look at the liners tomorrow as previous posts mention. But if there was anything else you tried/found Id appreciate the input! Thanks!

The main thing to note is that the teflon liner of the hose is supposed to be in the length of the flexible rubber part NOT the steel lines at all.

If they didn't notice the liner for the hose hanging out when they pulled the Hydroboost they should have looked farther. Thats a $100 part vs a probably $800 part.

Mine just started doing the same thing, I'm glad I found this thread BEFORE bringing it in... Just a quick question, is it only one hose in particular that the lining comes out of, or are ALL the power steering/hydroboost lines susceptible to the linings coming loose? If it's just one line that's coming apart, does anyone have the part number?

I don't know where I put that piece of paper. I have every other receipt for the truck but that one is gone somewhere. .

I think both of the high pressure hoses have the liner in them. But it seems the one from the pump to the hydroboost is the most common culprit. For a quick check pull the lines apart at the junction from the hose to the hard line to the hydroboost, if you see the liner, its been moving. It looks like from the old one that there were 2 crimp markings on the hose with steel collars to hold the liner in place as the teflon also had 2 small holes in it about the same location.

My 2008 just had this happen at 37,400 miles. Dealer had both hoses for $143 and took me 15 minutes to replace them. Only the hose to the pump was bad, but replaced both for piece of mind. I spend a lot of time on the road towing, so have added these hoses, 18mm and 22mm stubby wrenches, and fluid to my tool kit.
