I have a power steering building up on the top of the driver's frame rail of my truck. I can't feel any leaks/wet spots on lines or their terminations. Could this be from the seal in between the vacuum pump and the PS pump? Would the fan cause the PS fluid leak from that location to coat the frame rail? None of the hoses are wet.

thanks

If you're referring to the oil seal around the shaft between the 2 pumps, then that's not your issue. When that fails you get an engine oil leak that typically just gets your PS pump oily and drips on the ground when parked.

Not sure what the cause of the steering fluid leak is. I'd hose it down with a can of engine degreaser and blast it with the wand at the car wash and let it dry. Then start it up and work the steering wheel lock to lock and see if a friend can spot a leak while you're doing that.

There is a large o-ring around the pump where it is pressed into the reservoir. Over time it shrinks and leaks. O-Reilly sells a rebuild kit that includes the required o-rings. A cheap alternative to replacing the pump if you have the time to mess with it.
