power steering lines(search failed)

Hey guys,



Well last night I started up my 92 D250 that I am trying to sell,and figured I would move it around a bit. When I tried to move it the steering was really tough,and after some inspection I noticed my driveway was covered in power steering fluid,and I found one of the lines going to the box had rusted up pretty good,and was leaking. I am not sure if it is the high pressure side or low pressure side,but either way I think I will replace both lines.



When I did a search of this topic I found different opinions of the avalability of this part. Is this a dealer only part?Can I get it locally at a NAPA place?Is it a tough job to do?it seems to me it isn't the easiest thing to do,but maybe I ws just flustered by the set back. I still dn't have any bites,and it is bothering me. Thanks in advance.

The lines for my truck was a dealer only item. I had to replace the return line that goes from the pump to the box. It was $13 at the dealer.

I got mine at O'Reilley's for the 91 I had. I need new ones for the curent rig. They were about the same price, though- $12-15.

I recently had to replace the pressure side hose (not the non-pressure return line). About $18 at NAPA.



Replacement was a low-grade PITA. Make note: if you're doing the R&R on the ground, turn the steering all the way to the left so you can access the hoses more easily.



After that, it's just an exercise in wrench-twisting in tight spaces with a pan underneath.



Took three hours and two barley-pops. Next time, 1. 5 hours & two b-p's. :-laf

Yes they are a NAPA or wherever part.

Replace both while you are at it.
