power steering locked up.

The trucks power steering got very stiff the other day,,i checked fluids and they were full. . Barely got to the dealer with it,,they say the fluid was grey and lots of gritty stuff in it,,the pump was just changed in January on warranty because of a leak,,,now the truck is out of warranty and i'm wondering if they may have screwed something up when they installed the pump,,,this is a dealer that's not to well known for their truck knowledge but he's the warrany servicing dealer around here,,,now they say they need to change the steering box,,,sounds like they'll run up a pretty good sized bill. .

They say the pump is bad because when they spin the pulley with a finger it spins a few revolutions,,,and apparently it should only spin a turn with some resistance,

Any one else have issues like this on a 2003 3500 dually???

I just posted that my 04. 5 power steering pump died on 9-17-05, dealer replaced it for free, only have 22,654 miles on it. They said it would have cost me about $150. 00 for the pump and about the same for the labor to install it.



Mine just died! Stopped for lunch came back out and started it and wham it was dead. No prior signs of trouble with it, steering was fine, just died.
