I'm just trying to help out a buddy with a power steering problem and thought that some of you guys may know the answer.
He has a 1968 Chrysler Newport. He had the power steering pump replaced today and now the car wants to turn left by itself! You can actually rev the motor and have the wheels turn on their own. Of course the mechanic who did the install of the new pump says it is a problem with the steering box and it was doing it when it was dropped off. The car was not doing this yesterday. I told him that from my limited understanding that the pump only provides pressure and that he must have a blockage somewhere (stuck control valve?). Any insite is appreciated. My friend is in a wheelchair and has a hard time troubleshooting on his own. I will take a look later, but I am stuck at work for a while yet.
