I changed fluid recently by routing return lines (2) to a pan and adding new fluid while operating. I ran it for over 5 minutes and it only dumped less than 3 pints before the new fluid started flowing out the return lines. It was not a steady flow, but would sort of dribble out and when the wheels came to the stop as I turned them back and forth (on jack stand) a slug of fluid would squirt out the returns. My only other first hand experience is with an older gm pickup where the fluid flows very vast and you can't keep up with adding fresh to the pump.

I get some pump growl (fluid change made no difference), especially when cold and turning sharp. The assist seems a little weak - but it's always been that way. I havn't driven other similar trucks to tell the difference. In searching the threads on this topic, I learned about a screen located at the pressure line connection near the bottom of the ps pump. I checked for this, but couldn't find a screen on mine. Is the next step to get a pressure/flow test tool? Anybody used one or know where to get one? Thanks in advance.
