The power steering pump on my 99 4x4 has developed a leak and I was wanting to know if anyone else has had any problems with their pumps and how expensive they are. The leak seems to have gotten worse the past couple of days and I'm not sure were the leak is coming from on the pump.

Thanks for the help.

Well, my truck developed a nasty leak from the power steering gear box a couple months back. I posted here about it, and several members said to check the top plate on the gear box, theirs were only finger tight. Sure enough, 3 of the 4 bolts holding the top plate on mine were also finger tight. I fixed that, and have had no leaks since.

I see yours is a different year than mine, but it can't hurt to see if it could be a similar problem.

i have a 98. 5, but mine developed a leak were the pump bolts onto the engine. The seal between the engine and pump was bad. No covered by warranty:( because it was a dodge part not Cummins.

My 99's steering pump screamed real bad in the very cold weather. I brought it up on my final warranty trip and was rewarded with a new pump.

It never leaked but the cold weather noise was bad, real bad.

Got my service manual in the mail yesterday and will see if I can get a seal kit from the dealer and try it before replacing the pump. I seems to work just fine but it's leaking pretty good.

Thanks for the replys.
