Just like that... ... ... ... no power steering. While making a tight turn in a lot to maneuver around the rice I heard a loud squeal and then no ps.

Searched for topics,found1,401! Looked at several of these and found only topics related to noise, gear leaks/pump leaks. Has new pump according to previous owner. I have had no noise nor any leakage. Everything looks fine.

Has anyone out there had this problem come up in the past and if so are there any secrets to changing a pump [special tools]?????

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Did learn that it will take about one quart oil and valvoline is popular stuff.

Do ya still have good brakes? If not dont drive it. Mine did the same and the shaft that is on the front of the power steering pump broke and ruined the timing cover and case. Sent the stub and gear right on out. Had to replace injector pump gear and cam gear. A little spendy.

Good Brakes

Everything seems to be in top order. Drove on home that day, no troubles. Looked things over at the house, still no sign of any.

We ended up changing the P/S pump. Not a hard job just aggrevating! Same problem though. All of a sudden no power steering but we still had brakes because ours was vacuum.

Just Like That, It's Fixed !

Suspected the pump drive, and never had one apart. It was clear as mud. Pulled pump and this shaft of sorts fell out of pump upon removal. Wasn't sure what it's supposed to look like but wisdom tells me it's busted. The former owner said to remove oil sender or you'll break it. REALLY? Well, he also told me the new pump w/not include coupling, so removed old only to find the new arrived w/coupling!

So alrighty then, I installed pump and flushed system with that synthetic stuff everyone brags about.

To conclude,my old pump wasn't worth a trade-in because it's busted!!!!! Go Figure Scott
